Located in the mountainous Miyagi prefecture, Sportsland Sugo hosts
the penultimate round of both the Fanatec GT World Challenge Asia,
and the "Japan Cup" portion of the Championship.
Two 720S GT3s will contest the event around this 3.7-kilometre, 12 turn
circuit which features a technical opening section and culminates in a
sweeping high-speed right-hander.
Customer Racing team Team Uematsu have reached the class podium
in 3 of the 4 races they have contested this year, a victory at Fuji last
month the highlight of their season so far. Drivers Tadao Uematsu and
Yudai Uchida sit just 12 points away from the class points leaders.
In the highly-competitive Pro-Am class ABSSA Motorsport's pairing of
Koizumi Hiroshi and Keita Sawa have faced stiff opposition but head to
Sugo with two podium finishes to their name and sit 4th in the class
standings.
